Late Jenni Rivera Honored with Star
Amigos y amigas, prepárense because on June 27, the stars over Hollywood get a touch more brillo. Que? You ask. Pues, let me tell you, the “Diva de la Banda,” nuestra querida Jenni Rivera, will be honored posthumously with the luminous 2,783rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, it’s indeed a serious motivo de celebración.
The location for our diva’s stellar tribute? None other than in front of the iconic Capitol Records on Vine Street. Y para hacer this momento even more amazing, Mexican pop legend Gloria Trevi will be lending su hermosa voz for the ceremony. La estrella de Jenni will be accepted by her five hijos—Jacqie, Johnny, Chiquis, Jenicka, and Michael.
Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame producer said, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor the legendary Jenni Rivera with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.” Jenni’s star isn’t just a recognition of her accomplishments in the music industry. No, no, no, amigos. It symbolizes her courage, resilience, and unbreakable spirit. It’s a tribute to la gran señora who keeps inspiring her fans around the world. Quite a corazonada, verdad?
When la vida took Jenni away from us on December 9, 2012, she had reached a zenith in her career. To think this was a woman who carved out a place for herself in the heavily machista regional Mexican genre is simply hermoso. With iconic anthems like “Inolvidable,” “De Contrabando,” “Basta Ya” and “Resulta,” Jenni set the charts ablaze and our hearts alight.
Over her career, Jenni blessed the Regional Mexican Airplay charts with more than 30 songs. Fifteen of these even hit the top 10. Y eso no es todo! Our diva made her presence known on the Hot Latin Songs chart too. With a total of 25 songs, two hits, “Ahora Que Estuviste Lejos” and “La Misma Gran Señora,” made it to the very top. Una verdadera reina, verdad?
So, mi gente, mark your calendars. Let’s all take a moment, on the 27th of June, to look up at the stars and smile, knowing Jenni’s there among them, shining just as brightly as she did in life. Ay, te extranamos, Jenni. But your music and legacy continue to guide us, inspire us. You are truly inolvidable.
